My Favorite Walks and Hikes in Connecticut

My Favorite Walks and Hikes in Connecticut

When it gets warm after winter, one of my favorite things is walking or hiking. Here are a few of my favorite walks and hikes in Connecticut. Please let me know yours!

1. Steep Rock Preserve Washington Depot.

The walk though an abandoned train tunnel is a favorite.

2. Hidden Valley preserve- Washington Depot.

The Henry David Thoreau footbridge and quartz mine are favorites.

3. Shoreline Greenway Trail—New Haven to Madison.

There is so much to see. Some of my favorites are Lighthouse Park and the labyrinth in Branford.

4. Lake Chamberlain - Bethany. You will need to join the RWA rec program pass to go to this one.

I highly recommend joining. You will get access to excellent properties with great fishing, and you will also be helping give back to maintaining connecticut wild lands.

5. Wadsworth Falls State Park - Middletown.

6. Farmington Canal Heritage Trail - New Haven to Meriden.

This is a great place to run or bring your bike.

7. Silver Sands State Park - Milford.

Twice a day, a causeway appears so you can walk out to the island. Make sure you watch the tides you want to avoid getting stuck!
